Howick College was founded in 1974 to serve the eastern area of Auckland Howick. The school was built according to design "S68", characterized by a storey classroom block with walls reinforced walls, the roof is not noble, open internal courtyard and protruding window light bright.
The abolition of school corporal punishment of students before it even opened, becoming one of the first schools in New Zealand to do so. corporal punishment was abolished nationwide sixteen years later, in July 1990.
