University of Delaware is the largest university in Delaware. The main campus is in Newark, with satellite campuses in Dover, Wilmington, Lewes and Georgetown. It is moderate - about 18,500 undergraduate and 4,500 postgraduate students. UD is a private university that govern public funding received for the research organization supported state land-grant, sea-level, urban space and funding.


UD is classified as a research university with very high research activity by the Carnegie classification of higher education institutions. The program of technical universities, science, business, hotel management, education, urban issues and public policy, public administration, agriculture, history, chemistry and biotechnology molecular, chemistry and biochemistry has been ranked high for some drawings from the presence of the strong history of the chemical industry and pharmaceutical countries in Delaware, DuPont and WL Gore & such Associates. It is one of only four schools in North America with a major art conservation. UD is the first US university to start a study abroad program.


The field from which the great universities were founded in 1743, making it one of the oldest in the nation. However, UD was not chartered as an institution of higher learning until 1833. Its first class of ten students include George Read, Thomas McKean, and James Smith, all three of Among them will go on to sign the Declaration of Independence.
